Notes that in countries where more progress has been made towards equal treatment of men and women in the employment market has been achieved, it has had positive repercussions on economic and social development, and therefore equality policies should not be abandonmust be further developed in times of crisis; and that despite the stated intention of the Member States and the Commission, consistently equal conditions have not yet been achieved – indeed, in some cases the situation has even deteriorated;
