Welcomes the proposal for the ‘Urban development platform’,ideas which promotes the creation of networks between cities and the exchange of experience and good practices, but stresses that it should be extended to the urban area; rejects however the proposed new ‘Urban development platform’ instrument and calls instead for the expansion of existing instruments;

Appreciates the provision for a reserve ofthat at least 5 % of the ERDF funds, to be assigned directly to municipalities to promote sustainable urban development be made available to promote sustainable urban development; emphasises that this figure of 5% is a minimum target and points out that this percentage may also be exceeded;
