Underlines the fact that there has been a sharp decrease in the number of asylum applications in the past decade in the EU; highlights that certain Member States face disproportionate asylum requests compared to others, and that asylum applications are unevenly spread across the EU; stresses that it is crucial to identify these inequalities by, inter alia, comparing absolute numbers and capacity indicators; and that the States most affected by assylum applications must have greater assistance from the EU both from an administrative and a financial point of view;
