Recalls that in the Stockholm Programme the European Council had underlined ‘that well-managed migration can be beneficial to all stakeholders’; regrets the limited progress made in the adoption of legislation in the field of legal migration, and calls for greater efforts in the future in view of the demographic challenges and the needs of the economy; believes that assessment of the social impact of immigration and of the substantial influx of non-EU nationals crossing external borders and, at the same time, that the integration of migrants requires greater attention;
