Requests that the relevant EU institutions and agencies prioritise research and close knowledge gaps in the following areas: environmental thresholds (tipping points), the circular economy paradigm, the interplay between socio-economic and environmental factors, production and consumption patterns, the costs / benefits of action or inaction, the combined effects of chemicals, and nanomaterials, hazard identification methods, PBT substances, the impacts of microplastics, ultra fine particles, pharmaceuticals in the environment, the interaction between systemic risks and other health determinants, the impact of single stressors on health over the long term, soil and land use and invasive alien species;
