Calls onReiterates its position that sports bets are a form of commercial use of sporting competitions, and recommends that the Commission and the Member States to ensure that intellectual property rights, such as the partial redistribution of revenue derived from the exploitation of IPR in sports and merchandising, are taken into accountprotect sporting competitions from any unauthorised commercial use, notably by the introduction of a system for acquiring betting rights and the recognition of sports bodies’ intellectual property rights over the competitions they organise, not only in order to secure a fair financial return for their sectors, but also to combat match-fixing;
