4. Urges the Commission to act as the benchmark for settingpromote high data protection standards on data flows at international level and to consult the appropriate EU data protection institutions and bodies during the negotiation process of international or trade agreements that may potentially impact data protection. Underlines, in this respect, the obligation of the Commission resulting from Paragraph 10 of Article 218 TFEU, that the European Parliament shall be immediately and fully informed at all stages of the procedure.
