CStresses that trade is one of the cornerstones of a successful industrial policy and therefore calls for future trade agreements to be drawn up in such a way that they form part of an industrial strategy based on fair competition in the developed and developing worlds; the principle of sustainable development must be comprehensively applied, and social and environmental standards incorporated in free trade agreements; steps must be taken to ensure that European industries are not endangered by unfair practic and full reciprocity; believes that a new trade policy is needed which further promotes manufacturing in Europe and does not incentivize businesses to delocalize; takes the view, therefore, that the EU should request full tariff dismantling from its trading partners, a full removal of non- tariff barriers to trade, not allow a weakening of rules of origin and not authorize the use of duty drawback; the principle of sustainable development must be comprehensively applied, and social and environmental standards incorporated in free trade agreements while not overburdening trade agreements with non-trade related standards; to that end, the Commission should also monitor the environmental legislation, state aid rules and other support programmes, as is currently hapdopted by third countries compenting in the solar energy industrywith the EU;
