Calls for the setting-up of an emergency response mechanism to the destruction of cultural heritage, building on the experience of the UN’s Blue Helmets for Culture task force initiative, in close and structured cooperation with UNESCO and with the technological support of Copernicus – the European Earth Observation Programme; in that regard, welcomes the work done by the EU, under the aegis of Unesco, to finance the project for the emergency safeguarding of Syrian cultural heritage;
