Urges the European Commission to engage in formal talks with all the stakeholders in the sector in order to achieve this;

Notes that the sector has not engaged with the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indications (PGI) schemes in a meaningful manner; calls on the Commission to simplify access to thesthe rules concerning the regulation of supply for cheese with a Protected Designation of Origin or Protected Geographical Indication, in particular with attention to the minimum requirements of representativeness for the approval of the schemes;
