Underlines the importance of demonstrating to the citizens of the EU, especially in the current economic climate, that the protection of the environment is not contradictory with sustainable economic and social development; to this end it asks for the promotion of successful projects and the dissemination of information to the public on the feasibility of environmentally benign economic development in areas of important natural and cultural heritage like the Natura 2000 network;
