Stresses the need to focus on the specific objectives and activities of the Horizon 2020 programme on better management of water resources and aquatic environments in the EU and its neighbouring countries; believes that EU research policy should respond to growing challenges concerning water management for human consumption, agriculture, industry and water- efficiency ambitions;
