Highlights the existence of certain advertisements which promote either various types of violence or stereotypes of women as objects, humiliate women and debase their dignity; urges the Commission and the Member States to develop European awareness campaigns against exploitation of the female body and dissemination of sexist messages, ensuring that there is no dissemination of content that justifies, trivialises or incites violence against women;

Calls on the media to use language in a non-sexist way in the programmes they make, to ensure that women participate actively and are represented in a balanced way, and to ensure that there are diverse images of both sexes, going beyond general concepts of beauty and sexist stereotypes of roles carried out in different areas of life, in particular where content aimed at children and young people is concerned;

Calls for the EIGE to be made responsible for advising on and analysing the advertising carried by the media of the EU institutions and general advertising material, with a view to eradicating all forms of discrimination on grounds of gender; calls, furthermore, for the EIGE to ensure the existence of codes of ethics applying to the content carried by the media of the EU institutions;
