Appreciates the work which has been done to develop alternatives to animal testing and the Commission’s efforts, under the auspices of the WTO and in bilateral agreements with third countries, to assign the highest priority to animal welfare; regrets that proposals for the promotion of animal welfare in international trade have not been adopted;
