Notes that the Union has an increasingly ambitious trade agenda, leading to an increased burden on DG Trade; stresses therefore that sufficient resources must be allocated to ensure that DG Trade is adequately staffed to carry out the increasing number of simultaneous negotiations and monitoring activities;

Notes that citizens of the Union are increasingly asking for more involvement and engagement in Union trade policy and that the Commission has made this a priority; stresses in this regard that it is crucial that enough resources are allocated in order to actively involve citizens in Union trade policy making, through active engagement, stakeholder meetings, communication initiatives both online and offline and translations of fact sheets, negotiation texts and position papers; calls on the Member States to take a more active role in explaining the added value of trade policy, since they formulate the negotiating mandates, and to allocate sufficient resources in their own national budgets;
