Takes the view that the old perception of the single market as being primarily tied to economic considerations needs revisiting and that this has been made even more necessary by the importance which the Treaty of Lisbon has attached to the single market; stresses that all those involved in shaping and implementing the single market need to adopt a more holistic approach, fully integrating citizens’ concerns, particularly in relation to economic, social, health and environmental issues and consumer protection;
