Calls on the Member States - particularly the new Member States - to review their pension systems, taking into account the higher life expectancy of women and the major pay differentials between men and women, which are reflected in the amount of the pensions granted, often pushing them below the poverty line; calls on the Member States to establish a minimum pension so as to avoid penalising workers who have contributed for only a brief period;
