Recalls the conclusions of the International Assessment of Agricultural Knowledge, Science and Technology for Development (IAASTD), performed under the aegis of the World Bank, which underline that modern biotechnologies are not the best adapted to the needs of food-producing agriculture and that the most effective way of improving food security, reducing poverty and enabling a majority of regions to regain self- sufficiency in food is to take into account local knowledge and promote the development of organic farming;
