Urges the Commission to report to Parliament and the Council on options for the introduction of payments for ecosystem services taking into account the role of forestation, biodiversity conservation and SFM, as well as that of reforestation, prioritising broad-leaved trees, whose yield is more long-term than that of conifers but which considerably improve the quality of soil and biodiversity; stresses nonetheless that reforestation must, as a matter of priority, respect the characteristics of the location of planting;
