Details

PURPOSE: to propose a list of 5 candidates with a view to the nomination of a member of the Management Board of the European Food Safety Authority.

LEGISLATIVE ACT: Commission Decision.

CONTENT: the Management Board of the European Food Safety Authority is made up of 14 members designated by the Council in consultation with the European Parliament and following a selection of candidates proposed by the European Commission.

Given that the a member of the Management Board resigned, it is necessary to replace the member for the period running until the end of its mandate, 30 June 2008.

The Commission therefore organised a selection process on the basis of a call for the manifestation of interest.

At the end of the process, 5 candidates were withheld and the names must now be submitted to the Council and the European Parliament for a definitive nomination.

The 5 members proposed by the Commission are the following:

Margarita Arboix Arzo: ES Sue Davies: UK Libor Dupal: CZ Milan Pogačnik: SI Jiri Ruprich: CZ
