Details

The European Parliament adopted a decision concerning the on replacing the Chair of the Conference of Committee Chairs or the Conference of Delegation Chairs in the event of absence.

Parliament decided to append the following interpretation to Rules 27(1) and 28(1):

“In the absence of the Chair, the meeting of the Conference shall be chaired by the oldest Member, or, in the absence of the latter, by the oldest Member present”.

The Committee on Constitutional Affairs, which had been consulted on the application of Rules 27 and 28 of the Rules of Procedure, provided the following interpretation: 'In the absence of the Chair, the meeting shall be chaired by the oldest Member, or, in the absence of the latter, by the oldest Member present.'
