Details

The European Parliament adopted by 602 votes to 16, with 8 abstentions, a legislative resolution on the proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the operating space, access to the driving position and the doors and windows of wheeled agricultural or forestry tractors (codified text).

Parliament adopted its position at first reading, under the ordinary legislative procedure, taking over the Commission proposal.

According to the Consultative Working Party of the legal services of the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission, the proposal in question contains a straightforward codification of the existing texts without any change in their substance.

Details

The Committee on Legal Affairs adopted the report drafted by Sajjad KARIM (ECR, UK) on the proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the operating space, access to the driving position and the doors and windows of wheeled agricultural or forestry tractors (codified text).

It recommended that the European Parliament’s position adopted at first reading, under the ordinary legislative procedure, should be to take over the Commission proposal as adapted to the recommendations of the Consultative Working Party of the legal services of the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission.

Details

PURPOSE: to undertake a codification of Council Directive 80/720/EEC on the operating space, access to the driving position and the doors and windows of wheeled agricultural or forestry tractors.

PROPOSED ACT: Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council.

LEGAL BASE: Article 114 of the treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU).

CONTENT: the purpose of this proposal is to undertake a codification of Council Directive 80/720/EEC of 24 June 1980 on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the operating space, access to the driving position and the doors and windows of wheeled agricultural or forestry tractors.

The new Directive will supersede the various acts incorporated in it. This proposal fully preserves the content of the acts being codified and hence does no more than bring them together with only such formal amendments as are required by the codification exercise itself.

BUDGETARY IMPLICATION: this proposal has no implication for the EU budget.
