14b. Points out that there are still significant inefficiencies in public procurement across MS that limit cross- border expansion and growth in domestic markets. Stresses the need for proper and timely transposition and implementation of public procurement and concessions legislation by Member States. Believes correct implementation of the 2007 Remedies procedure would ensure public procurement is more efficient, effective and transparent.

Is of the view that market surveillance authorities within the Single Market need to be strengthened, better connected and appropriately staffed to meet today's challenges in particular those from global competition; Urges national market surveillance authorities to cooperate more closely and to exchange information and best practices to effectively tackle the high number of illegal and non-compliant products incurring high costs for complying businesses; calls for the immediate adoption of the Product Safety and Market Surveillance Package by the Council of the European Union;
