Believes that the EU has a responsibility to protect and promote the rights of autochthonous national and linguistic minorities; Calls on the Commission to draw up a comprehensive common EU minority protection legal framework with its own high standards and with a robust monitoring mechanism by incorporating existing international law instruments and following proven best practices in the EU; calls on the Commission to draw up a roadmap towards establishing this system;
