Calls for a new inter-institutional mechanism for scrutiny and oversight of the EU space programmes in order to facilitate the effective implementation of the goals of an EU space policy under Article 189 of the Treaty of Lisbon, and to enable the co-legislators to work more efficiently with the Commission to monitor implementation of large scale scientific programmes;
