Stresses the importance of technical harmonisation and standardisation of data and definitions regarding C-ITS, including backward compatibility, so as to ensure a successful roll-out and interoperability at all levels; feels that the Commission’s principal partners in creating them must be the ministries of transport and other competent authorities of the Member States;

Points out that in order for cooperative transport systems to be successfully developed and implemented, extraordinary attention must be paid to cyber-security in order to prevent hacking attacks and other forms of abuse; if cyber- security is not fully ensured, consumers’ health will be threatened and their confidence in the use of the C-ITS system will be undermined;
