Recognises the significant improvement in the control regime brought about by the current control regulation, in combination with the IUU fishing regulation, in terms of consolidation of many previously separate regulations, the introduction of the possibility to use new technologies, preliminary steps towards harmonization of sanctions, clarification of the roles of the Commission and Member States, improvements in traceability and other advances;
