Believes it is important to tackle the multiple causes of early and forced marriage, including age-old traditions having little regard for gender equality and women’s affairs, the lack of educational opportunities and, very often, the endemic poverty in the communities concerned; calls in that regard for the EU and the Member States to work together with UN Women, UN Children´s Fund, UNFPA and other partners to bring attention to the issue of CEFM;
