Stresses the increasing opportunities for rural areas stemming from the digital transition, especially in agriculture, through artificial intelligence, geospatial data, IoT data and high-speed connectivity and warns of the wide rural digital gap in the EU; calls on the Commission and the Member States to ensure stable, high-speed broadband coverage throughout the EU, including in rural areas, to certify geospatial data usage for precision agriculture, to ensure that digitalisation is inclusive and accessible and to support farmers with training, resources, and incentives to adopt new technologies;

7. Points out that EU funding, such as the 2014-2020on the rural development programme, plays a crucial role in the ability of rural regions to react to demographic challenges. Underlines that where national, regional or local strategies allow for synergies between the EU Cohesion Policy and the rural development dimension of the new CAP, the implementation should be carefully planned to maximise simplification and avoid administrative burdens on the beneficiaries;
