Welcomes the allocation of EUR 2 million for the development of a common testing methodology, and the inclusion in the EU budget for 2018 of a pilot project that aims to assess different aspects of dual quality for several categories of products; urges Member States and national authoritthe Commission further to allocate financial resources with a viesw to actively participate in ongoing initiatives to facilitate the processcarrying out comparative testing during a market surveillance period of at least two years in order to deter manufacturers who have used this misleading practice;

Stresses the need to boost the level of transparency with regard to the information provided to consumers by manufacturers through a regulation that will apply across Europe, through which all products marketed in the EU market are included in an online platform in the form of a European register of products marketed in the European market containing, for example, the information to be found on the product label, the name under which the product is marketed in each Member State, its nutritional characteristics and physiochemical parameters and a photo of the product, ensuring that the platform is readily accessible for the purposes of informing consumers;
