Recalls that consumers have a major role to play if we want to achieve a significant reduction of water consumption in the EU; calls therefore on the EU to launch a public campaign to make people aware of the water issue and encouraging them to undertake concrete actions; highlights in particular the unsustainable practices in the tourist sector, especially in regions affected by persistent drought such as the Mediterranean;
