1. Reaffirms that access to water is a vital imperative and a fundamental right and that improved water supply and sanitation, and better management of water resources, can boost countries’ economic growth and can contribute greatly to poverty reduction;

Calls for coordinated and coherent water management in developing countries with regard to its various uses (agriculture, energy production, industry, etc.), and calls on the European Union to provide better support to developing countries for sustainable water management, including support with regards to developing innovative solutions for the creation, management and maintenance of water points, handwashing facilities and the promotion of healthy hygiene practices;
