Points out that the existence of cultural heritage sites encourages people to travel and learn about different societies and cultures; recalls that 72 % of a survey group aged between 15-24 agree that the presence of cultural heritage can have an influence on their choice of holiday destination; highlights the role that the DiscoverEU initiative can play in this regard; notes, however, that the initiative has not benefited young people equally; calls on the Commission to find ways to better involve young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, from rural, mountain and remote areas of the Member States, and from Member States without good rail links to other EU countries;
