Highlights that large energy storage capacity is provided by the existing gas infrastructure and that these assets and those accommodating new sources of gas, in particular renewable hydrogen, would facilitate the integration of renewable electricity; notes in this regard the need to address the issue of the new role of gas Transmission Systems Operators (TSOs) in the light of unbundling rules;
