Stresses that to create a true Innovation Union by 2020 and to complete the European Research Area by 2014 the European Union needs the pan- European research infrastructures, such as the Biological and Medical Sciences Research Infrastructure (BMS RI) projects; stresses that it will therefore be of key importance to develop appropriate funding mechanisms for their sustainable implementation;
