Supports the continued efforts of the Commission in negotiating specific provisions designed to improve the ability of small and medium sized enterprises to engage in trade and investment; recognises the proliferation of integrated global supply chains in international trade patterns; asks the Commission to pursue a digital trade strategy that takes into account the opportunities it offers to small and medium sized businesses by facilitating access to global markets; recommends that this strategy should endeavour to improve connectivity and capacity-building for e-commerce, eliminating unjustified restrictions on cross-border data flows, providing that the adequate rules that promote open, trusted and secure digital trade are in place;
