5. Calls on the Commission to ensure the enforcement of trade agreements and make existing ones more ambitious, in particular by promoting sustainable EU norms and standards.; calls on the EU to use its commercial policy to promote the adoption and effective implementation of international labour standards and human rights law by its trading partners, in particular its Asian partners such as South Korea, the Philippines and Vietnam, using ILO Conventions as a basis; stresses in this context that respecting the right to form and join a union and engage in collective bargaining is a key criterion for business accountability; deplores the fact that freedom of association is often denied in many production workplaces in our trading partner countries;
