Notes the growing trend towards the re- municipalisation of water services in several Member States, including France and Germany and urges therefore that this option of remunicipalising water services should continue to be ensured in future without any restriction, together with the freedom to award contracts in the case of cooperation in the fields of water and sanitation services on the basis of local laws;

Stresses that water and sanitation services should be removed from any trade agreements the EU is negotiating and urges the Commission to grant a legally binding exclusion for water and sanitation services in the ongoing negotiations for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership and the Trade in Services Agreement;
