Underlines the importance of fighting terrorism on the basis of full respect for international law and human rights, and of supporting the role of the UN in combating this threat; welcomes the commitment of the new US- President to the closure of Camp Delta in Guantánamo Bay and the shutting-down of secret overseas CIA prisons, reviewing at the same time the legal and policy architecture for terrorism detainees and ending the CIA’s so-called “enhanced interrogation” regime; calls on those EU Member States capable of so doing to assist the US with the closure of Camp Delta, contributing also to the rehabilitation of former Guantánamo Bay detainees;
