Article 13a Ionising radiation On the basis of the Euratom Treaty, secondary legislation has been adopted in the field of health and safety in order to protect the population and the environment against the risks of activities involving ionising radiation. The obligations requiring Member States to introduce criminal penalties pursuant to this Directive shall also cover, therefore, unlawful conduct infringing the legislation adopted pursuant to the Euratom Treaty.
