Stresses that the 2020 Budget should signal and embody a step-up in the struggle against climate change; points out that some policies responding to climate change are also strategic for promoting inclusive growth, good jobs and reducing macroeconomic imbalances between member states; highlights the need to start preparing for tackling the socio-economic consequences of climate change and to provide adequate funding for that;

Calls for adequate resources for the European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs) in view of their new tasks; underlines that the ESAs should continue to increase their efficiency without compromising on the quality of their work with a focus on continuous re-assessment of working methods, transparency and of effective use of human and financial resources; emphasises that the ESAs must stick to the tasks and to the mandate assigned to them by the European legislator with full respect for member states’ national authorities and democratic bodies;
