Supports the Innovation Union initiative as a key pillar of economic, social and cultural development in the EU, particularly as regards inclusive education at all levels, including Vocational Education and Trainingnd welcomes the Commission’s recommendation to step up investment in education and vocational training so as to put knowledge at the heart of the economic process and to enable all European citizens to participate in this process;

Welcomes the Commission's desire to support open and collaborative innovation which will bring long-term social and economic benefits in order to facilitate the diffusion of knowledge whilst providing incentives for innovation; approves in this context the commitment of the Innovation Union to the dissemination, transfer and use of research results, including through open access to publications and data from publicly funded research;
