Urges the Commission proactively to promote the EU’s offensive agricultural interests, given the vast export potential of the EU’s high quality agri-food products; underlines, inter alia, the need to step up promotion programmes, including through an increase inby making the percentage of EU cofinancing more flexible; notes that these measures are WTO-compatible, falling as they do into the ‘green box’;

Recalls the commitment made by the WTO members during the 2005 Hong Kong Ministerial Conference to achieving the elimination of all forms of export subsidies in full parallelism with the imposition of disciplines on all export measures with equivalent effect, notably export credits, agricultural state trading enterprises and the regulation of food aid; notes that the European Union should completely relinquish export subsidies only within the framework of a WTO agreement and on condition that all the contracting parties abolish such subsidies at the same time;
