3. Calls for a revision of the European consensus on development as an important contribution to an updated, coherent global EU strategy; underlines that such a revision should take into consideration new global challenges, address EU implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and reiterate underlying values such as respect for human rights, with special attention to the rights of people with disabilities, democracy and the rule of law, but also key principles such as ownership of development strategies by partner countries, accountability and differentiation based on needs but also performance criteria;
