2. Highlights the EU’s obligation to incorporate the development cooperation objectives into any policies that it implements which are likely to affect developing countries, as set out in Article 208 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, it seeks to promote balanced and sustainable development while respecting the diversity of the cultures and traditions of the peoples of developing countries as well as their national identities and the organisation of their public authorities at national, regional and local levels; recalls that many Union policies with a more domestic dimension contribute to the implementation of the sustainable development goals (SDGs), and therefore achieving coherence across all Union policies is crucial to achieving the SDGs worldwide;
