Advocates the development and enhancement of local public transport systems through not only the more effective utilisation of existing infrastructures but also demand management initiatives (for example, preferential lanes, ecopass tariff systems and restricted traffic zones). Considers it essential in this connection to invest in technological innovation and innovative solutions for the promotion of low- emission transport systems;

Stresses the importance of alternative fuels (for example, natural gas, biomethane) for the purpose of establishing sustainable mobility on a wide scale; advocates development of the necessary infrastructures for the supply of such fuels and the harmonised distribution of refuelling points in geographical terms with a view also to developing industrial supply;
