Invites the Commission to ensure full implementation of existing legislation and to come forward with a ‘transport and climate’ legislative package with a view to achieving the climate objectives, covering all modes, including urban mobilitycommitments, through which the European Union would undertake to meet the following objectives: – a 25% reduction in the car fleet by 2025 through the sharing economy and the improvement of public transport, which provide valid alternatives to using private cars; – a 25% increase in modal shift by 2025 thanks to a proactive policy of investment in multimodal infrastructure and to the renovation of rail and waterway infrastructure, in order to ensure a shift from road transport to rail and waterway transport, which are the least carbon-intensive modes; – a 25% increase in electrification and hydrogenation in public transport by 2025; – a 25% increase in the area given over to cycle routes and greenways, and a 50% increase in the rate of use of bicycles, by 2025;
