Notes the requirement under the CBD target 15 of the Strategic Plan 2011 – 2020 to restore 15 % of degraded ecosystems, such as wetlands and forests, by 2020; considers, however, that this is a minimum and that the EU should have its own, more ambitious target and long-term vision; calls, therefore, on the EU to set the restoration of 30 % of degraded ecosystems as its target for 2020, and urges the Commission to define clearly what is meant by ‘'degraded ecosystems’' and to set a baseline against which progress can be measured;
