Points out that the success of the eurozonmeeting the expectations of the people of Europe is dependent on increasing the welfare of all its citizens, and on well- functioning labour markets and welfare systems, based on decent work with rights, a strong role for the social partners, social dialogue, collective bargaining and collective agreements, and preventing individual Member States from trying to gain an unfair competitive advantage by infringing workers’ rights or promoting social dumping;

Points out that in order to stabilise the social situation in Member States, economic stabilisers such as a European Unemployment Insurance (EUI) schemetheir sovereignty as nations and their national currencies should be restorengthen the welfare state and fight social deprivation caused by one- sided fiscal discipline measures taken under the European economic governance frameworkd without delay in order to free up national economies and allow a return to full employment;

Regrets the fact that the current system of European economic governance is highly unbalanced and focuses almost exclusively on fiscal stability and wage competitiveness, while concerns about, benefitting only certain Member States, and points out that problems in relation to economic recovery, public investment policies and more and better jobs and social cohesion are the largely ignored consequences of this system;
