  OBJECTIVE: to amend the Statutes of the Joint European Torus (JET), Joint Undertaking with a view to continuing JET's operation beyond 1996. SUBSTANCE: the proposed amendments relate mainly to the following points concerning the Statutes: - the JET programme is extended by three years: the joint undertaking is to run until 31 December 1999; - the Finnish member, the Technology Development Centre of Finland (TEKES), must be included among the members of the joint undertaking; - membership of and voting rights on the JET Council: Finland will have two representatives with two votes between them; this will increase the total number of votes in the JET Council from 43 to 45. The total number of votes required to adopt a decision will increase from 29 to 30; - certain changes are taken into account as a result of Sweden's accession to the European Union. �
